Loads of the ropes from the contraple
Factual frequencies with the reference ratio at 440 Hz. If your group with another reference, for example, 442 Hz, change them with the "The =" and the tuning machine sets all the notes.
| Rog | Note | Filling | Frequency (The = 440 Hz) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st string | Sol | G2 | 98,00 Hz |
| 2nd string | Re | D2 | 73.42 Hz |
| 3-Reg | La | A1 | 55.00 Hz |
| 4th string | Mi | E1 | 41.20 Hz |
orchestral and solist tuning
Unlike the violin, viola and cello, the contraplo is put into quarters. The orchestral tuning is Mi1, La1, Re2 and Sol2 and its string of My Vibra at barely 41.2 Hz. Many soloists use the soloist tuning, a more acute tone (Fa, Si, Mi, La) with strings built for that tension. Some orchestral contrapes have an extension or a fifth string to get more serious.
| Filling | Notes (4th to 1st) | When used |
|---|---|---|
| Orquestal | M1 · La1 · Re2 · Sol2 | Orchestra, band, jazz and popular music |
| Solista | Fa ∞ 1 · Si1 · M.2 · La2 | Repertory with soloist ropes |
Filling with harmonics
That's the most widely used method by the contraptists, because harmonics sound more acute and clear than strings into the air. The harmonic at a quarter of the length of a string (two octaves above) should sound just as the harmonic at a third of the most acute neighbor string. For example, that harmonic of the string of My gives a Mi3, the same as the harmonic at a third of the string of La.
With this tuner you can also play the harmonic half of the string: they recognize it as the same string and let you know that an octave sounds up.

The drawback clamps are mechanical, with gears, so they are not returned as those of the violin. Nevertheless, a quarter back moves the note quite a while and so they have to be turned slowly. The long and thick strings have been slow to react to the temperature changes: if you wear the instrument from a cold place to a hot place, let them be acclimated a few minutes before tuning. At pizzicate, press with the yolk and not with the fingernail, so that the attack will be stable and the tuning will read the note without jumping.
How to tuning The contraple with this tuner
- Touch Engage Mic and accept your browser's permission. The sound is analysed on your device: it isn't recorded or sent.
- Let the target string at Auto so that the tuner will recognize what string you play, or touch a note to fix it.
- Touch a single string into the air with mean force and let it sound.
- If the needle's at the left, the note's low: put up the tuning. If it's at the right, put it down. Between − 5 and + 5 cents it's thought to be tuning.
- Use the speaker with each note to listen to reference and train your ear.
- Reg all the ropes at the end: some have a few moves to each other.
Tips To Refine Your double bass
- The harmonics make it easier to tuning: they play the harmonic softly at half the string and put that note up, an octave more acute and easier to read.
- Reach the microphone to the instrument: cellphones get bad at very serious frequencies.
- Check the bridge after tuning and with so much tension you can bounce.
- Fits with the backend in place to play: put up with the ground and with your body as you are about to use.
Common problems with tuning
- The needle leapes between notes: He plays a single string, a little more soft, and waits for the sound to stabilize. The first instant of every note always sounds a little more sharp.
- Do not detect serious strings: The cell phone microphones miscapture low frequencies. Reach it to the instrument or play the harmonic half of the string (3): The tuning agent recognizes it as the same string and warns you that an octave sounds up.
- The air's tuned, but what you play sounds bad: Check that no string is at the wrong octave and that the strings aren't old. If you're still old, ask your teacher or a luthier to check the calibration of the instrument.
- It's clear right away: The new strings are stretching for several days and changes in temperature and moisture move tuning. Filling at the same place you will play.
- The browser does not order the microphone: Check the site's permissions into the browser's configuration and that no other apps are using the bug.
Frequently asked questions
What's the contraption tuning?
The most common orchestral tuning is Mi, La, Ree, Sol (E A D G), equal to the four strings of the electrical bass. There's also a soloist tuning, a more acute tone.
Do these tuning tools serve as a matching device with an arch and pizzicate?
Yes. The sound with an arch is more stable and pizzicate plays with force and let sound sound.
How do I transport a contraple without an intuning?
Protect with a padded cover and avoid sudden temperature changes. We'll tell you about it in the [drawback care guide]](/blog/como-cuidar-un-contrabajo).
